What does a day in the role of Group Controller look like?

My day starts by analysing the current incoming orders as well as the current sales, which I compare to the forecast. If questions arise, I contact the local sales teams to take the most up-to-date information into consideration. Afterwards I usually support Jörg Schirdewahn (Head of Group Controlling) in various controlling tasks such as creating analyses for him and the board. It is crucial to not simply create reports but to also understand the meaning of the data that will facilitate the decision-making process of various stakeholders.
At the beginning of each month, I provide support in the controlling closing activities, e.g. creating the market overview report, and I provide Stefan Schindler (CMO) with the sales KPIs. Similarly, I also support our sales team by providing data that enables them to make effective business decisions.

What was the moment where you knew you made the right decision to join ARGO-HYTOS?

I knew I made the right decision in joining ARGO-HYTOS when I visited one of our production hubs for the very first time – in my case in Germany. I could finally hold our products in my hands and got to see what was behind the data that I am analysing back in the Swiss headquarter where we don’t actually produce any products. Working in an industry that produces a physical good and requires production facilities was important to me when I chose this job. And seeing all that in person confirmed that ARGO-HYTOS is the right place for me.

What do you value the most about ARGO-HYTOS?

My supervisors encourage and value that I take initiative and bring my own ideas to the table when thinking about the ways in which we can propel our company forward. This allows for creative and out-of-the-box thinking that not only triggers new strategies but also enriches my knowledge and professional experience.

ARGO-HYTOS is all about coming up with solutions. How do you (and your team) come up with solutions? How does ARGO-HYTOS as an employer support you (and your team) in bringing these solutions to life?

ARGO-HYTOS gives ground to an open-minded and supportive company culture that fosters out-of-the-box thinking, enabling individuals to fulfil their full potential. Staying curious and asking as many questions as possible is how I generate new ideas, often together with my team. Reflecting on these valuable discussions helps me to better understand our business and how we might improve it. Thereafter, it is my task to process data in a way that give our decision-makers clear insights into our activities. I contribute to our solutions by confirming (or, in rare cases, disproving) assumptions and intuition with numbers, data and facts.
